Conjunctivitis

Conjunctivitis, otherwise known as pink eye, is an infection of the conjunctiva. The conjunctiva is a thin membrane that protects the surface of the eyeball and inner surface of the eyelids. Pink eye is caused by a variety of sources like bacteria, viruses, and allergens. Pink eye is highly contagious. People with pink eye usually experience redness in the white of the eyes along with watery eyes and possibly discharge. Minor cases of pink eye can improve within two weeks, some can develop into a more serious eye condition that can threaten the cornea and even your vision. Diabetic Eye Disease

Diabetic eye disease is a term to describe a group of eye problems that can arise from having type 1 or type 2 diabetes. Often there are no symptoms in the early stages of diabetic disease so it’s important to schedule and come in for a comprehensive exam every year. Early detection can greatly reduce the chance of permanent vision loss.

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is an increase in the intraocular pressure of the eyes. Increased pressure in the eyes causes damage to the optic nerve. There are no signs early in the stages of the disease. There is no cure for glaucoma. Early detection and regular eye exams are imperative to slowing the progression of the disease.
